Talking Points is involved in a variety of economic development
activities in the 16 county
Charlotte Regional Partnership (CRP).
- Coordinates the quarterly meetings of
16 county leaders as they learn about and advance issues
such as water restrictions, air quality and energy.
Led the effort to rationalize the water restrictions of the
112 water system in the region toward a single, cohesive set
of guidelines.
- Input
facilitated by Scott from more than 100
business, education, government and nonprofit leaders was the
basis of this region's five year vision plan.
- Talking Points authored the nomination of the Charlotte Regional
Film Commission entry for the CoreNet Economic Development
Innovation Award - a national recognition. The Film
Commission was one of only 12 national finalists.
- Talking
Points and The Coman Company teamed-up to help build a cohesive model
of collaboration for nonprofits that serve the international
community in Charlotte. The goal: Support foreign direct
investment in the region through a rich international nonprofit
community.
- Scott managed the
16 county implementation of E-Pulse software in the CRP
territory to manage economic development retention and

submit - and receive - a $50,000 matching grant to
study economic development in rural counties and improve the
prospecting for new business.

The board of directors for a university research institute has
a high-profile roster of regional leaders - financial
professionals, national-level research directors, energy
professionals, venture
capitalists, corporate executives. Talking Points created
and implemented a board of director strategy to focus directors
on research and
technical trends and help them easily identify potential
business partners for the university.

A Charlotte-based manufacturer's rep for
industrial equipment used Talking Points to create a five year
strategic plan and prepare the company for its interview with a
European-based manufacturer searching for a rep in the
Carolinas.

university engaged Talking Points to benchmark its public

leading corporate communicators. The study identified

delivered a concept to the Charlotte Observer for local
business/life coaches to answer real-life questions about work
and personal development. The weekly column, “Career Coach,” premiered
in 2005 and wrapped up in 2007 in the “Money Wise” business section of the
Charlotte Observer.

the 2005 $10+ million Arts and Science Council campaign in
Charlotte. For years the ASC campaign has led the nation in its
successful fund-raising and collaborative efforts for the arts
in a metropolitan area. With an innovative analysis from

$500,000 after this analysis.
